Warsaw Chopin Airport (Polish: Lotnisko Chopina w Warszawie, Polish pronunciation: (ICAO: EPWA)) is an international airport in the Wochy district of Warsaw, Poland. It is the busiest airport in Poland and the 32nd busiest airport in Europe, handling 14.4 million passengers in 2022 and handling approximately 40% of the country's total air passenger traffic. The airport is a central hub for LOT Polish Airlines as well as a base for Enter Air and Wizz Air. Warsaw Chopin Airport covers 834 hectares (2,060 acres) of land and handles approximately 300 scheduled flights daily, including a substantial number of charters. London, Kyiv, Frankfurt, Paris, and Amsterdam are the busiest international connections, while Kraków, Wrocław, and Gdańsk are the most popular domestic ones.

History of Warsaw Chopin International Airport

Warsaw Airport was opened in 1934, and During World War II, Okcie was often used as a battleground between the German Army and Polish resistance and was almost completely destroyed. The airport was rebuilt in 1945, with LOT Polish Airlines being responsible for that. In 1969, a brand-new terminal was operational, and a year later, the airport served its first million passengers. In 1990, after the fall of the Soviet Union, a new terminal was started and finished two years later, Terminal 1. Terminal 2 was built in 2007–2008. WAW Airport was known as Warsaw-Ocecie Airport until it was renamed in 2001 as a tribute to the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin. The name Okecie Airport is still being used in some cases. The most recent changes to the airport were made in 2012, in time for the UEFA Euro 12 football championship.
