Address: X5C6+V2X, Av. to Antonio Maceo Grajales International Airport, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba

Antonio Maceo Airport (IATA: SCU, ICAO: MUCU) is an international airport located in Santiago, Cuba. The Antonio Maceo Airport is a medium-size international airport located 7 kilometers (4 miles) southwest of Santiago de Cuba, the second-largest city in the country and the capital of the south-eastern province of Santiago de Cuba. It serves the city of Santiago de Cuba and surrounding areas. This airport is also the gateway for tourists heading to the all-inclusive resorts located along the coast (from Chivirico to Baconao), especially during the high season (December to April). The airport is named in memory of Lt. General José Antonio de la Caridad Maceo y Grajales (1845–1896), who was second-in-command of the Cuban Army of Independence.

History Santiago De Cuba Airport

The airport has a drawing of Che Guevara on one of its outside walls. Pope John Paul II flew to this airport during his last visit to Cuba, flying a round trip between here and José Mart International Airport in Havana. Nevertheless, jet aircraft also fly to this airport. Most commercial flights into SCU are domestic, but there are about twenty international flights each week; while these international flights were at one point mostly done by domestic airlines, the international routes have nevertheless awakened the interest of some foreign airlines that have opened flights into this airport and might open more flights in the future.

The airport is basically a turboprop center. Likewise, Pope Benedict XVI, during the second papal visit to Cuba, flew here for Mass and other activities after his visit to León and Guanajuato in Mexico, before moving on to Havana.

Santiago de Cuba Base: The airport was home to the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces.

35th Transport Regiment: Antonov An-2 and Antonov An-26 transports

36th Helicopter Regiment, Mil Mi-8 and Mil Mi-24

The helipads are now part of the executive jet terminal on the north end of the airport. Here are the contact information for the Santiago DE CUBA International Airport (SCU) in Cuba.
