Niue International Airport Assistance
International airport in Niue
Address: alofi, Fagalilika, Niue
Niue International Airport also known as Hanan International Airport, is an international airport serving the island nation of Niue. It is located near the town of Alofi, and is only used by Air New Zealand, flying to and from Auckland twice a week, departing Auckland on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and departing Niue on Mondays and Fridays. The airport was opened in December 1970, at which time it was served by Fokker F.27 Friendship aircraft. From 1990 to 1992, it served as the base of the now-defunct Niue Airline.
Notes Of Niue International Airport
Because New Zealand and Niue are on opposite sides of the International Date Line, the Tuesday morning flight from Auckland arrives in Niue on Monday, and then departs a few hours later, arriving back in Auckland on Tuesday evening. Similarly, the Saturday morning flight from Auckland arrives in Niue on Friday, and then departs a few hours later, arriving back in Auckland on Saturday evening.
Guide to Hanan Airport, Niue: Niue’s one and only airport goes by many
names: Niue International Airport, Alofi International Airport and Hanan International Airport. Either way, it’s the same place taking the same two flights a week from Auckland, New Zealand; one of the very few ways to get to this remote island in the South Pacific. Needless to say, with a limited flight schedule, Hanan Airport is nothing flashy but it provides one of the more unique airport experiences with its open-air waiting area and market stalls! Find out more about the arrival procedures, facilities and services to expect with this complete guide to Alofi Airport, Niue!
Quick Facts About Alofi/Hanan Airport:
