History of Navoi International Airport

Navoi Airport has been in operation for more than 50 years.

It was built even before the devastating earthquake in 1968. Navoi International Airport started its work in 1962, and in 1992 it became a part of the Uzbekistan Airways» Company. Navoi Airport launched a complete renovation in 2007.

Navoi Airport in Uzbekistan got the status of an international airport in January 2009. And it fully meets international standards and requirements for such structures. Today, Navoi Airport is able to handle more than 15 fully loaded Boeing 747-400 cargo flights daily. The airport is the second logistics site in Central Asia for cargo and ground operations.

Navoi Airport currently serves three airlines, implementing flights to nine cities in eight countries. It is working to establish business affiliations with new airlines to create new routes. In August 2011, Navoi International Airport began to fulfil the plan for the restructuring of the passenger terminal. In June 2012, a new passenger terminal was placed into operation. The passenger terminal is composed of two terminals. Terminal "A" is for local flights, and Terminal "B" is for international flights. Both terminals can serve 400 people per hour.

It is proposed to extend international business between Europe and Asia and recreate the Great Silk Road, which is used for the wellbeing of countries around the world. However, unlike its predecessor, the "New Silk Road" will combine land, rail, and air travel, making it really comprehensive.

Transportation to Navoi International Airport

Navoi Airport was built in 1962 in the middle of the desert. Today, its territory changed into a blossoming oasis.

The airport serves the following types of aircraft: AN-24, YAK-40, IL-114, and RJ-85. In 2004, the modernization programme of the airdrome began. The results will allow the airport to receive all types of aircraft.
