Loreto International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Loreto) (IATA: LTO, ICAO: MMLT) is an international airport located in the city of Loreto, in Loreto Municipality of Baja California Sur state, in the Baja California Peninsula. The airport handles national and international air traffic for the city of Loreto, which is a major tourist destination in northern Baja California Sur State. The airport serves as a Focus city for regional airline Calafia Airlines. It also supports a variety of tourism, flight training and general aviation activities. History Loreto International Airport

The original airfield was established in 1920 as Hamilton Airport by local business owner and aviator Thomas F. Hamilton. Milwaukee County purchased the land on October 19, 1926, and renamed the airport Milwaukee County Airport. The first airport terminal there, the Hirschbuehl Farmhouse, opened in July 1927. That month, Northwest Airlines, Inc., began air service from Milwaukee to Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul. In August 1927, world-renowned aviator Charles Lindbergh visited the Milwaukee airport. Kohler Aviation Corporation began providing passenger service across Lake Michigan on August 31, 1929.

Information Loreto International Airport

Loreto Airport features a small passenger terminal with three gates and passenger amenities like snack bars, a wine/liquor shop, and a tourist spot offering handicrafts. Flights operate daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

It is operated by Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares, a federal government-owned corporation. It is capable of handling aircraft the size of Boeing 737s and Airbus A320s. However, it mainly receives Embraer ERJ 145s, Bombardier CRJs, and Boeing 737s aircraft.

Aeromexico flew to several domestic and international destinations in past years, but service was cancelled in 2014. Currently, the airport has regular international flights to Los Angeles and seasonal service to Calgary, Dallas/ Worth, Phoenix-Sky Harbor and San Francisco.
