The Chinese Great Wall
According to a proverbial Chinese proverb, "Nobody can be a true hero unless he has gone on the Great Wall," emphasising the significance Chinese people attach to this extraordinary old structure. Between the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries there were numerous attempts to plunge over the falls in various types of homemade boats and barrels. This, along with tightrope walkers and other spectacles, led to the adjacent town of Niagara Falls developing a carnival type atmosphere that still persists today.
Beijing's Imperial Palace and Forbidden City
The Forbidden City (Zjncheng), also known as the Imperial Palace, is the biggest and most significant structure in China. It is located in the centre of Beijing and is a must-see for anybody travelling to the nation. Much of the current structure, which was started during the Yuan Dynasty between 1271 and 1368, was constructed between 1406 and 1420. This sprawling structure, which was actually many magnificent palaces in one, was home to 24 Ming and Qing emperors, whose presence prohibited anybody other than the imperial family and their courtesans from entering.
Army of Terracotta
Wouldn't it be amazing to see an 8000-person army that has been frozen in place for the previous two thousand years? Yes! In honour of the fallen soldiers, an entire army of warriors, generals, and horses were sculpted, immortalising the sacrifices they made for Qin Shi Huang, the first recognised emperor of China.
Chengdu's giant pandas
Not just youngsters, but many adults from other countries also have a great passion for gigantic pandas. Although there are several zoos in China and other countries where you can view a big panda, Chengdu-the giant panda's "hometown"-is the greatest site to see them.
Nature Reserve at Daocheng Yading
Due to its beautiful natural environment, Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve is referred to as "the last pristine area on earth" and "the last Shangri-La."
Palace of Potala
The Potala Palace in Lhasa, which has been the Dalai Lama's winter residence since the 7th century, represents Tibetan Buddhism and its key place in the country's long-standing government. The Potala, which has approximately 1,000 rooms, served as both the Dalai Lamas' residence while they were alive and their opulent golden graves after their passing. The Dalai Lama continued to live there until the 14th Dalai Lama fled to India following the Chinese invasion in 1959.
Harbour in Victoria
One of the world's deepest container ports is Victoria Harbour. The harbour provides breathtaking views of the Tsim Sha Tsui coastline on one side and the skyscrapers of Hong Kong island on the other. With hundreds of ferries, junks, and speedboats zipping up and down the shore, it is also one of the busiest harbours in the entire world.
Cruise the Li River
The highlight of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province is a Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo. The beauty along the Li River is one of the most popular tourist destinations in China because of its stunning scenery and taste of a life far from the concrete metropolis. Karst mountains draped in mist dot the scene, adding to the tranquilly.
Terraces of Hani
Over a thousand years have been spent cultivating the Hani Rice Terraces, which are found in Yuanyang on the southern slopes of Ailao Mountain. These rice terraces, which the Hani people hand-carved, have transformed a desolate hillside into a verdant subtropical paradise. In the trees on the hillsides, water is conserved and directed for irrigation purposes. From December to March, the rice terraces are submerged, giving visitors an amazing vista.
Grottoes of Longmen
In the eastern central region of China, the Longmen Grottoes are widely dispersed along the Xiangshan and Longmenshan mountains. The grottoes' construction started in 493 AD. The caves contain more than 2100 niches, over 100,000 Buddhist statues, 40 pagodas, and 3600 tablets and steles. The statue of Vairocana in Fengxian Temple, which stands 17 metres (56 feet) tall, is the most representative of the hoard.
