It is located 45 kilometers (28 mi) to the northwest of Jerusalem and 20 kilometers (12 mi) to the southeast of Tel Aviv.Until 1973, it was known as Lod Airport, whereafter it was renamed in honour of David Ben-Gurion (1886ÔÇô1973), the first Israeli prime minister. The airport serves as a hub for El Al, Israir Airlines, Arkia, and Sun d'Or, and is managed by the Israel Airports Authority. In 2019, Ben Gurion Airport handled 24.8 million passengers.
Benina International Airport (IATA: BEN, ICAO: HLLB) (Arabic: ┘àÏÀϺÏ▒ Ï¿┘å┘è┘åÏ® Ϻ┘äÏ»┘ê┘ä┘è) serves Benghazi, Libya. It is located in the borough of Benina, 19 kilometres (12 mi) east of Benghazi, from which it takes its name. The airport is operated by the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Bureau of Libya and is the second largest in the country after Tripoli International Airport. Benina International is also the secondary hub of both Buraq Air and flag carrier, Libyan Airlines. As of 17 July 2014 all flights to the airport were suspended due to fighting in the area.
